The RKC Book of Strength and Conditioning | Kettlebell | Strength Training

The RKC Book of Strength and Conditioning is comprised of a quick preface, 10 full programs, and 35 standalone workouts. Each of these programs and workouts is written by a different coach. If you love kettlebells, this book is probably already in your collection. When I was first getting into branching out beyond the muscle mags that dominated my youth, a book like this would have presented an awesome playground of information. I can pretty much guarantee I would have loved having access to the writing of so many coaches in just one book. I have a good imagination that would have been lit ablaze by the variety presented. Many of these workouts but not all can be done with a dumbbell in place of a kettlebell, and a little imagination can pretty easily fix the rest.

With HKC Pittsburgh just 5 days away and my future RKC down the road in , my own personal training is becoming more and more intense. Now, to give yinz an idea of where I currently stand conditioning wise, take a look at my workout from last Friday. My totals: 26 circuits completed in 35 minutes for a total of 20kg swings, pushups and 52 pullups. Please note, I am not giving these totals to brag but rather to make a point. I have reached this level of conditioning after nearly 2 years of training, but now the trick is to get MORE conditioned for the future. So, how does someone who is already pretty fit push themselves to the next level when it comes to kettlebell fitness? Everything you need from fat loss, building endurance, and gaining some serious strength is all in this book.

About years ago, Russian military leaders were looking for a way to turn their soldiers into lean, mean, fighting machines with incredible strength and muscle. So they melted down a pile of cast iron into a ball and attached a handle, and the kettlebell was born. Since then, this single piece of exercise equipment has spawned an entire industry based on building muscle and strength, cardiovascular endurance, and the kind of calorie burn that can rev up your metabolism and help you lose weight. But not to worry. This book created by Dragon Door Publishing features 45 workout programs, tips, advice, exercises, and motivation from leading kettlebell experts in the fitness industry. These 45 unique workouts include something for everyone. But this single piece of exercise equipment can actually be used to perform hundreds of different exercises that can transform your body and help you get into top physical condition.

Kettlebells first appeared on my radar somewhere around when I was training wrestlers at Rutgers University. I saw a kettle-stack or something like that in an IronMind advertisement.
