After the homicide, Miles Corwin decides to write this book because we wanted to write not only about gangbangers but also about other children who wanted to succeed and had to overcome obstacles in life. He wrote about the problems that occurred in inner-city high schools. He followed a group of seniors that were in a gifted program at Crenshaw high school in Los Angeles.
