The Best Books on Science and Islam | Five Books Expert Recommendations

The Covenants Initiative now has its own website covenantsoftheprophet. The book published in is organized around three such covenants: the covenant of the Prophet with the monks of Mount Sinai, the covenant of the Prophet with the Assyrian Christians, and the covenant of the Prophet with the Christians of the world. The third volume contains translations of these six documents into fourteen languages. Both the book and the extended documentation are praised by many Islamic and Christian religious leaders and scholars as an effective antidote to the negative image of Islam spread by ISIS and other self-declared radical Muslims, and I have personally witnessed Dr. Sayyid Syeed, Emeritus National Director for the Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances for the Islamic Society of North America, endorse it as one of the most important contemporary developments that will help to balance the image of Islam in the world. On the other hand, it must be said that many scholars are quite hesitant to acknowledge the historical value of these covenants for two reasons. In the first place, it is clear that the copies that have been preserved in the archives and the monasteries are substantially younger than the originals from which they claim to be copied.

New Book Helps Teach Teens About Islam

Islam and the People of the Book, Volumes 1-3

This book is a review of the rights of Muslims, the criticism of Islam, and the condition of Islam in various countries. Views from both the Qur'an, and its cited interpretations, and the views of critics of Islam will be included into discussion. This correct understanding, perversely, first led to wars that united Arab tribes into a nation and later initiated the Islamic Empire and The Golden Age of Islam. This period extended from the second to the ninth century of the Muslim calender which is the 7th to 13th century after the common epoch ACE. At this time Islamic scholars evolved new legal, philosophical, and religious understandings.

Islam and the World: The Rise and Decline of the Muslims and Its Effect on This book is brilliant, funny, raw and utterly magnificent ― it's a portal to a world.

Islamic bookstore sparks controversy

Media stereotypes and misinformation about Muslims are nothing new. In a post-election world, Muslims are finding more allies who often want to help but don't know much about us. More and more of our fellow Americans have questions and need answers. In on online forum recently, someone asked me about books I would recommend to those wishing to learn about Muslims. I'm happy that people want to learn -- even though I think meeting Muslims is far more valuable than reading about them -- but searching the sea of available choices can be difficult and dangerous. For instance, search for "Muslim" or "Islam" on Amazon , and the array of books that pop up is worrying. Not because there are so many, but because many of them are horrifyingly inaccurate and often downright false.
